Companies are using President Trump's tax-cut savings to buy their own shares. That's good for investors, but doesn't do much for the economy.http://nyti.ms/2GMkhTy

I'm so shocked, companies do what's best for their investors instead of funding raises, better healthcare, 401ks (god forbid pensions)...who could have predicted this?? Everyone, everyone that understands companies, did.

Its like corp strategy 101: buy your own shares to ensure "sHaRewhOldeR VAlue", this is not unusual. This is observable. This is what they do when the have money. We've seen it before. You're right, we shouldn't be surprised.

I told you so. Companies are using their tax break to enhance their fiscal position. In this case by buying back their stock rather than increasing payments to labor. Doing anything less than enriching the corporation would not be exercising its requisite due diligence. #Tax

Superbly researched article. The biggest take away from this article, and the easiest theme to understand, is that companies do not make investment decisions based on capital reserves... But rather on the potential profitability of a givem venture

They'll think the $1,000 they got is a lot of money, not understanding they could have gotten $3,000 or $4,000. Also don't realize healthcare is about to get even more expensive.
