And some wonder why the cycle of poverty continues unabated. Good thing Trump is bringing back coal mining.

Politicians expect teachers to educate our children and police to protect us, but they pay both professions very poorly. Then, they blame teachers and police when things go wrong.

This isn’t a WV thing, this is a national thing and it’s disgraceful. We don’t pay educators a living wage.

Instead of paying them a 1-2% raise and maintaining their healthcare coverage, let's give them all guns. Yeah, that's the ticket. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU ELECT REPUBLICANS, WEST VIRGINIA.

WV has always been a Democratic State. Our Governor Jim Justice was voted in Democrat but changed Polilital Party after a visit from Trump mid term and went Rebulican! I quit working the election polls because of this reason.

The state legislature has recently turned over to Republican control, as well, from where these teacher issues are stemming. It's shocking to me that a traditionally Dem state, with a history of coal exec exploitation and extreme poverty rolls over for oil & gas and trump.

All teachers are underpaid. My wife is a teacher, I know. The thing is that, you knew that when you got into the trade and you accepted it. Please do not punish the children you should be teaching on your strike days for decisions you willingly made.

So if a woman gets raped and gets pregnant from it they still have to give birth to the baby? Seems pretty traumatic to me.

It's like that in NC. Taught school for 32 years and when I retired, Republicans had dropped the salary for veteran teacers. In fact, the last 5 years, no increase. Beginning teachers were making more than those with 5 yrs.

Also, employees with 25 years experience were making the same as I was with 32 years experience.

That’s teachers everywhere in this country. It’s an embarrassment and the main reason we are losing out in the global economy
