I wonder what the cost of abandoning the city would be vs what was spent in the last century and onward. As sea levels rise we’re gonna have to be making choices like that.

What a minimal amount with trillions at stake and multi-million dollar school sports-funds. I’d say billion dollar investment only, really!

I never understood why we continue to spend money on places like this. Why not start building more inland? There is so much unused land in America. The ocean will catch up and these people will live on the shore once again. Same goes for anywhere else.

By that logic, you should abandon Hurricane prone Florida, Tornado Alley, flooding Dallas and earthquake prone California etc. Weather and natural disasters happen everywhere. You can't outrun it.
-
Yea you’re probably right. You also can’t keep funding something that can’t be fixed.
-
The point is it can be fixed. The gov haven't done what's necessary to fix it. So build what's necessary and don't tell a city to move unless you're willing to put them up in your own backyard, because it's funny how people say 'just leave' but no one wants to take in refugees.

We could spend $200 billion and it couldn’t stop what’s coming for NOLA.
