while I find that fair assessment and am for more expansive narratives, Cuban experience, especially Cuban American, is probably widely different than say a family fleeing Honduras. There are parts of Central America ravaged by violence currently and it is beyond sad

I'm from Honduras. My family did not come to flee violence, they were actually pretty well off at home but sought further growth. I think her point is experiences vary in the Latino community but we don't see that variation.
-
Yes I agree. There is always variation. But as someone from Honduras I think it’s equally important to recognize the violence and strife within your country. It’s by far the biggest theme in Central America these days.
-
That’s not to say individual experience should be erased or ignored. I guess my issue is a lot of Cuban Americans fled Castro and tend to be wealthier than your average person fleeing from Central America
-
And you're right that most wealthy Central Americans do not flee like wealthy Cubans had to. But even poorer Central Americans have good experiences in the U.S., it's not violence and tragedy forever. There's a record number of Latinos in college for example but it's not shown.
-
Exactly. In many ways they are a continuation of the hopes and foundation of our country. There is often pessimism about the dream being dead but we often forget to ask those who it’s still benefiting

There isn't any different between Cuban and another immigrants. About%100 poepel of America are immigrants therefore nobody has right to say : Latino families are so and so because we could see these issues between all Americans but with different range .

most latino families to me seem to be pretty normal. maybe even more picturesque than a lot of white families that i see. i'm a white non-latino too.

Yes. I didn't know much about it until I got a call stating my husband and son were kidnapped. I was in a picture with a family from I don't recall country. I hung up and called the cops. I had heard of that scam.

The Times has no empathy or understanding for Latins . Times identifies with Mexicans and can’t distinguish them from Latins.

Liberals just want their votes. And if you ask Joy Reid, you’ll get “MS13 who are they”. She needs to expose “one liberal at a time”.
