It's not a myth. It's called a piece of paper.

The best way to aecuely vote is use a computer to select choices, print out filled-in paper ballot that person reviews and puts into box. Then count paper ballots.
-
Why the need for computers anyway? It's always just been pencil and paper here in the UK and the system seems to work ok?
-
True. But in the US we have issues.
Remember when Bush/Gore election was decided by poorly filled out ballots? Also computers help disabled read and complete the paper forms. -
Are they really that hard to fill in? In Australia we just have to number boxes and the candidates hand out how to vote cards so you can just copy them... it's zero effort
-
Here in the UK we're handed a slip of paper with all the candidates names on. All you do is put an 'x' in the box next to name of the person you're voting for. Simplicity itself. Bind and disabled people are allowed to have a nominated companion to help them. Its problem-free

-
That election came down to a few hundred votes out of millions. They were throwing out votes where there was half an X, or the mark was mostly outside the box, or if you had to puch a hole, some of the paper was still attached. Yet the solution has been worse than the problem
