It would be the first gold medal of the Pyeongchang Olympics for Russia, or rather the Olympic Athletes from Russia as the team is technically knownhttp://nyti.ms/2CgaDKN

Last fall, Evgenia Medvedeva of Russia was a consensus pick to win the women’s figure skating competition at the Olympics. But her time was gone before it ever arrived.http://nyti.ms/2BKXlET

Disappointing night for the ladies figure skaters from USA. Russian skaters were great. Triple triple combos with the hands over the head is incredibly difficult. Triple lutz + triple loop combo from Alina Zagitova was amazing.

But nowhere near the artistry of Medvedeva. Thought she was robbed.

Definitely. Medvedeva has been the gold standard the last 2 years but ultimately her triple flip + triple toe combo wasn’t as good as the triple lutz + triple loop from Alina. Objective scoring based on jumps will always be a deciding factor in who wins. It’s a sport after all.

I was just more moved & emotionally invested in Medvedeva's performance...it felt more complete w/ jumps & artisty. Alina, while having a more difficult program, was just too robotic. Of course jumps should matter, but artisty should have a bigger say in the scoring imo

Not only that, Alina’s program was not balanced. The front part is boring and not interesting. Medvedeva’s was and told a story. She pulled you in. Skating is turning into just do as many jumps as possible which is sad. Canadian skaters program was much better also.

There not suppose to be in the Olympics because Russia was banned...work around ban Russian colors, flag & anthem. Let athletes compete under OAR "Olympic Athletes of Russia". A ban is a ban.

Do you mean OAR? Olympic Athlete from Russia? Meaning they can’t represent Russia. I don’t like Putin, but I do respect Olympic Athletes because their talents, dedication and hard working. She is amazing.
