And yet...Trump thinks teachers will be brave enough to confront and kill a shooter. 🙄

Sorry buddy - they didn’t go to college to act as law enforcement. They went to learn how to teach and enrich students.

So the Sheriff’s Deputy armed w/ only a handgun did not want to commit suicide by going up against the shooter armed with a military assault rifle-an AR-15-capable of shooting 2 rounds per second but waited for backup has resigned-Imagine what armed teachers would have to face

That deputy's pistol shoots the same speed as the ar15. Both are semi auto

A rife is very accurate when you don't have anything challenging you. Thats why the cops are trained to get in and go toward the threat. Otherwise you are just letting the Gunman target the children for more uninterrupted time.

Cops plural? this situation was 1 deputy vs an unknown # of shooters w/superior firepower. Would 1 cop do that or would they wait for backup?

You wait a few seconds if you know back up is 30 seconds or less away. You don't wait 4 min whilst shooting is actively happening and people are being shot.

Not excusing but we’re all human even the well trained freeze up all the time. I’d be curious if this deputy was close to retirement age & just riding out on school duty. Either way arming teachers/more guns isn’t the answer.

I don't think we should mandate teachers carry, but if they want to and have their own training, they should be allowed. Teachers won't be expected to hunt down the shooter but on he enters the room after lock down they could defend themselves and students.

I agree. It’s easy to judge and condemn; but no one can say for certain how they would respond in that moment until it happens. Let’s honor the heroes, mourn the victims, and reserve shame for the law makers that sit on their hands.

Better said than me. Twitter is a toxic place. Too much judging. You captured what I aspire to believe and communicate. To destroy one person because we have a collective problem makes no sense.
