This is a great example of the price we pay as a society for making choices that advantage large companies over individuals. We know exactly what causes these diseases and how to mitigate the risk. We simply have chosen to ignore this knowledge structurally to promote profits.

Someone tell these people that there is a new field available to them to work in that would eliminate this disease. It’s called “solar power”. Perhaps they’ve heard of it.

In that case, it sounds like a GREAT industry to try to bring back. Especially at the expense of renewables.

This is the reason why our country has been working to move out of the coal mining industry. Coal mining is dangerous and deadly, hence why the push for alternative energy sources. Not only good for the environment, but good for human health and safety.

The article is about black lung which comes from inhailing the coal from the mines and clings to their lungs suffocating them to death. Even proper protective equipment isn’t always enough to protect against it.
