This is a proxy war conducted by players on a worldwide scale. The innocent men, women & children of Syria are the sacrificial lambs. Is there any sense of humanity?

Kurds, Qatar gas pipeline to EU-to stop Russian supply dominance, Israel's unease with Iran's policies, Saudi-Jordanian-Gulstates sunny vs. Shiite regional posturing, just to start with. Turkey's Ottoman reconstruction ambitions. Hardly anything to do with Syria...

How about if all foreign interventions including funding and training of rebels stopped. Would that not end the war? The people of Syria deserve to live in peace.

Russia tried that with a UN proposal before the war went out of control. The rebels and US/UK/France refused because it included Assad who the rebels fear would win the proposed elections because at that time the majority supported him.
