"A part of Facebook still sees itself as the bank that got robbed, rather than the architect who designed a bank with no safes, and no alarms or locks on the doors, and then acted surprised when burglars struck"http://nyti.ms/2GsHOIT

You missed out the part where the robbers paid to get in, paid the bank manager to open the vault, paid the staff to load up their truck with cash, paid said staff to travel back to their hideout with them, then got cover from that same staff while the police came looking.

At this point they are more like a gun manufacturer pretending they have nothing to do with the mass murder gun problem. FB designed a system to make $. They didn't care about anything else. Even saying they failed to protect themselves is giving them too much credit.

Of course Facebook thinks this way. If you look at most “Millennial”-founded companies, they have this attitude. It’s a tell-tale sign of that generation. Ignore and run away from problems, but...as long as we’re making money, it’s OK. #NoAccountability

LOL as if greed and lack of accountability is exclusive to companies founded by Millennials, AKA those damn kids on your lawn.

FB wants to advance complex AI yet they couldn't see such a simple thing like all those Russian IP-addresses spreading hoaxes and half truths. Why can't they implement a simple 3 strike rule?? post or share 3 fake news and you're out..

That sums it up pretty well. Amazing to me too how, ironically, unadaptive Zuckerberg's mental frame has proven to be on this...

Can Facebook go back and put a notation on every single post that came from a foreign a Russian source? Seems Facebook owes that to American populace (at a minimum).

A bank that raked in profits while leaving the safes open and getting robbed.

you could add to that, "...and insisted that the burglars only pickpocketed the door guard on their way out and nothing else."

People exploit basically anything for money, power and/or spite. @Facebook has managed to attract those capable of all in various combinations w/virtually no safeguards in place. #Zuckerberg needs to own his shortsightedness, greed & negative impact on democracy.
