It was before school it was as during school. It was play. It was fun. It was as when we discovered things on our own. It was 5 times a week plus before and after school.

This aligns with physiology. Two major groups of hormones are formed when we exercise: 1. Endorphins - which are akin to opiates we take for relief of pain. These internal hormones help in elevating mood and affect. 2. BDNF - This hormone enhances memory and learning capacity.

When? Many schools start 7:50 and my kids are exhausted that early let alone earlier. Maybe if school started later & this started at 7:50.

As a retired teacher, I was thinking great idea. Extend school 20 minutes after school so that this could fit in. Schools would produce healthier and smarter kids if started with fitness!

I agree, school should end later & some of the morning should be free play. Kids wouldn’t dread the mornings and would be ready to focus.

Or administrations treat PE teachers like babysitters rather than professionals. We are sometimes sent over 5 classes to the gym at a time because teachers call in or something else is going on

That's annoying. Glad you still have PE though. I've heard some places were suggesting dropping PE and/or recess so they can continue to focus on learning. Not sure how that works when exercise & breaks are so good for memory & focus.

We are not going anywhere anytime soon. The military is not meeting goals because kids are obese. If a kid is obese and sign ups there would be a greater chance for injury and recycle. So, you are seeing articles coming out and more of an interest to create healthy schools

I hope that interest can somehow overpower the school's need to meet standardized testing scores. Since it has so much to do with funding, it's the focus. I hope for the sake of our kids this gets changed sometime soon & we can have a broader focus on our youths overall future

Our kids take way too many test. Yet school districts get nice kick backs from the test makers. What we have to do is stick to a plan and fully fund it.The leaders are always trying to find the hottest new fad in education not realizing that all it is repackaged material
