Paul Ryan, Bernie Sanders and others stated facts and falsehoods in the wake of the Florida shooting. The Times checked them here:http://nyti.ms/2Ezwbn8

This is an obvious clickbait made worse by mentioning Bernie Sanders. As you point out in the article and his statement as false - 18 school shooting vs 18 discharge of a firearm so far in 2018 is extremely disingenuous and misleading. NYT, You should be ashamed of yourselves.

You can’t stop people from becoming mentally ill. You can stop people from owning guns.

We can treat mental illnesses. We can’t just throw a bunch of medication at it though. Look at how many of these shooters were on anti-depressants. The same drugs that can cause suicidal thoughts. 🤔

You can treat mental illness but there’s no law you can pass to stop people from getting one. You can pass laws to stop people from getting guns.

you can pass new laws but that doesn't mean that they can be enforced. We have 1000s of gun laws on the books that are rarely enforced. Why don't we start with enforcing and procecuting the current laws

2 things. If one takes the republican view to heart, we shouldn't be worried about Kim Jung Un getting a nuke. We should address his mental health. Also, we should look for a MASSIVE mental health bill, funded by the NRA, to be introduced by Ryan and McConnell this week.

If it was due to mental illness, where are the mentally ill women shooting up schools?? 98% of shootings are at the hands of WHITE MEN. It's not mental illness. It's #ToxicMasculinity
