So what exactly is the gendered nature of the true crime genre? Is the audience more of one gender? Is it about the genders of the victims or killers? Are the creators of the true crime media one gender? Genuine question here, article doesn’t seem to explain

I get trying to discuss the uncomfortable realities of true crimes with humor, but “factual inaccuracies” & “exaggerating dangers” are counter to “reality.” Does challenging “gendered” nature excuse inaccuracies? It seems like disservice to the challenge and "true crime."
