that's because "white face" wasn't used to demean and dehumanize a race of people for over a century by the race which held political/social/economic power like black face was - the historical context matters

As horrific as it is, I still hope this is an incident that will bring more consciousness to race issues in China. Now people understand this is wrong, just like how America gradually fought for Civil Rights to this day. Sincerely hope the officials get their shit together.

Most of Chinese people find this inappropriate as well. At least I don’t think it is funny. That it appears on the National TV show doesn’t mean it can represent our whole nation’s thought. Racism is always unacceptable.

From my experience living in Asian countries-most Asians think they are superior to black people and, or, other people of color. America is not the most racist country by far-racism is extreme in many countries-thus genocide in modern times-still happens.

This is a complicated thing. It's hard to say it's racism! This monkey was acted by a Chinese actor. Plus, The theme of this sketch is one African mother-in-law like a Chinese engineer who helps infrastructure in Africa. In China there is little political correctness discourse.
