and there is nothing "harvest" about it- the name lends itself to fresh vegetables and ingredients but the proposed box would only include canned vegetables, peanut butter, canned and processed everything and nothing fresh or "harvested". another way to punish low income

Unless Trump's plan is to privatize it for one of his friends, so they can have a massive government contract. All about the money.

Misleading choice of imagery to accompany story about BS "Harvest Box" proposal, which will NOT include fresh foods and will certainly not involve farm stands!

once again the Republicans are willing to use poor people as pawns in another scheme to help corporations get richer. #repugnantrepublicans #dumptrump

And replacing food stamps with “blue apron” like food boxes? One can only imagine what government supplied food boxes would contain and which one of his corporate buddies would get the contract.

Not all " low income" families are lazy. Bad things happen to good people. For the ones out there really trying to hustle the honest way. We need help. No matter the color or religion. Americans should pay it forward for other Americans.Lead by example.

I agree with the food boxes Senator. I have seen first hand the abuse of the Bridge cards. They can be had for 75 to50 cents on the dollar.

Probably a back-door way for Republicans to fulfill twin goals of cutting benefits for the poor while enriching special interests. Though, I think idea has merits as an opt-in option for urban poor in food desserts and the rural poor who travel long distances for groceries.
