We need to learn a lesson from what had happened to Iraq n Libya. The countries that destroyed Iraq aren’t adequately helping to rebuild its vital infrastructure. No Maldivian in his/her right mind wud want the same thing to happen to our country @Huzam @mohamedsaud @Karusathey

China like many European countries had no history of colonisation of other http://countries.It  was UK that fought two wars against China over right to sell opium to Chinese citizens.China doesn’t act like a self-appointed policeman of the Pacific or the Indian Ocean.

Not entirely true anymore. Look at the territorial disputes China has with it's neighbours. Case in point, South China Sea and how China has reclaimed the area and installed military facilities in an area claimed by it's Southeast Asian neighbours.

Exactly, it's very naive to base all your argument on what had happened in the past while totally diregarding today's realities which are very different from those days.

I am not talking out of spite or hatred but trying to say things as they stand. I am not biased towards any country. Should I be biased in favour of any country or countries it should be India, Australia n the UK for obvious reasons

First, things stand quite differently. It's not in black & white. Both china & India have been our friends for over decades. For v obvious reasons we have depended on India for centuries. As for ur views, IMHO & as u made clear ur dislike India & favor china. It's v obvious.

Iraq was destroyed by foreign powers but the very countries that that destroyed Iraq’s vital infrastructure isn’t adequately helping to rebuild it.

War in its nature is carried out to destroy nations. Not to rebuild. People who believe otherwise should be tried as traitors.

If America actually steps up and pledges a decent sum of money for Iraq to use in rebuilding themselves not only would it help curb the rising extremist element they helped cause it would make them think twice about occupying countries

Too bad, the world police systematically fucked iraq. If you don't help now and just walk away like you always do, isis gets another foot hold. Remember what happened when the U.S. walked away from Afghanistan and the Taliban?

The US was instrumental in destroying Iraq under George W Bush Jr whose nightmare of WMDs was the excuse. Consequently, the US will hesitate in building it up again. The US attitude is understandable. The donors should not bank on the US.

Our leaders know how to get us into a war. They just aren't much good at getting out of it and rebuilding. Maybe if the construction industry provided as much graft to politicians as the military industrial complex does, we could change that.
