At least 4 Russians, and perhaps dozens more, died last week in clashes in Syria with U.S.-led forces. The Kremlin, playing it down, suggests they were mercenaries.http://nyti.ms/2EqPTl1

More #fakenews from NYT. Those killed were Russia trained forces called ISIS Hunters. But for sure the #US are playing down its causalities number in #Afghanistan

Correct. The Tribal Fighters bore the brunt of the attack along with the Isis Hunters. Wagner Group lost about 3 or 4 Russian contractors.

I'm not even going to mention the deaths of American advisers aka "volunteers" in #Afrin

The media has been very quiet on western volunteer deaths in Efrin. Most of these volunteers are, of course, ex US and UK military. I suspect the numbers will rise as Turkey's mercenaries close in on Efrin city itself.

Whatever they were, it is apparent that they were not in communications with the Russian chain of command which was fully informed by US counterparts that they were in the area and would defend their positions. I still smell General Qasem Soleimani Iranian commander involvement.

Jesus. The US and Russia need to align together and chill out on the political bullshit between us. Hopefully this brings a somber meet where we can talk in earnest instead of a violent ramping-up. God bless the souls of the soldiers killed.

Many Iranians caused this. Russian contractors died too. Unfortunate.

Syria has become such a terrible place for all of the Influential Groups over there. Looks like a mounting powder keg. . So troubles with Russia can be pretty damning if it gets worse over there.

It's about interests. Actually less so for US. Our interests are our allies security. Otherwise we wouldn't be there. Our involvement in Syria is outgrowth of horrors of ISIS. Obama contributed to creating that mess. Under public pressure he gave air cover Sep 2014. Not much else

Oh, I remember. Everything about Syria is a damn mess and it's true that Obama didn't play it the best. Still, it has gone from ISIS (Who is basically dead now) to the Kurds who are seeming to try to take over for more lands. Russia disallowed our AF in the area, also.

Actually, there were just held elections in Rojava. It is local control. Kurds have not forced that. All sides want end of war. Except Turkey and Iran. Even Assad wants end, but his backers won't allow it.

Hey, that would be nice to hear. Just remember seeing some Military Accounts just last week of the Kurds attempting to seize some kind of control, likely due to the Iranians. Here's hoping some kind of peace can be placed. Just a little fearful it's become a hotzone for violence

If up to Syrians, it will be peace. Not sure Turkey and Iran will allow that. Israel will protect themselves, period.
