Wildfires are spread by predatory birds, say Aboriginal Australians. A few scientists are beginning to suspect it's true.http://nyti.ms/2nP2jZE

It may be only one bird starting all the fires. The descriptions match. He's discovered fire. It's evolution. The most convincing thing that leads them to believe it is 1 bird is that he started out by pooping on police cars, and this is a clear escalation.

It’s true. It’s a known fact in the Top End. It’s just that now scientists are trying to prove it, and I think they will. 🇦🇺

We get someone lighting a fire in NSW every time it's above 30 degrees Celsius. Sure... it's the birds.

Raptors are extremely intelligent birds so this doesn't surprise me at all. Like humans, some birds in a species are *smarter* than average and develop skills that are passed to offspring via observational learning. Crows also have similar traits.

Just spent the morning watching seagulls come and patiently inveigle you to give them food on the roof terrace, and crows even more persistently try to untie two ends of a string...it is very unintelligent of humans to underestimate these creatures' extreme intelligence.
