Cross country skiing is notoriously, almost inhumanly, exhausting. Every single mile per hour must be earned.http://nyti.ms/2G6aJ5F

Omg I love this. “I don’t know why these people are out there, devoting their lives to this particular form of self-torture, training for so many thousands of hours to gain glory in a sport that offers the equivalent worldwide fame of competitive whittling.” 😂😂😂

Non skiers perspective. And a little ode to dad. Nice. Please include pieces from those who love the doing of it. So much more to reveal.

Fantastic writing, Sam. I felt the cold introspection of the sport in your words.

An enjoyable but deeply flawed piece. Cross-country isn’t more grueling than any other endurance sport, but instead of looking at runners going in monotonous circles, you get uphill battles and downhill races. All sports are boring when you don’t understand what is going on

Human would do it, it’s not like they’re forced to do such things, so stop worrying. It’s like NFL players got concussions, but they would do it nonetheless

As a downhill skiier, I giggles at every word of this. But bless them for doing it.
