This is very sad but also very reasonable. It's too bad a fraction of Bean buyers people can't adhere to the spirit and intent of the original guarantee. That hurts people like me that occasionally have defective products that I rarely use and break after, say, three years.

In my humble opinion, the quality of their merchandise has been in decline for a few years now. I do believe a fraction of people abused the system, but enough to change a business model? I assumed the company writes off returns anyway.

Actually, this is one of the reasons they were SO POPULAR already...unless you actually think LLBean is a financial failure. Actually, this the kind of thing when a company grows into a corporation, they actually become less interested if their product is any good.
