"It hasn’t been used up; it’s just too old. A pristine iPad from the same era, forgotten in a storeroom and never touched, would be equally useless."http://nyti.ms/2ELDl4t

Last month, spring cleaning coz my kids were home, we found a box with 5 brand new iPods(bought 2010 for gifts). Somehow lost in moving house, forgotten. Now completely useless.

If they are iPod classic model people will still pay a lot for them.

Here's what you do: the day you buy your new iPad that works optimally, refuse from that point forward to update any apps or your operating system. That way, except for the battery, your device will always be the same as it was the day you bought it. It has worked wonders for me.

Vampire company, deliberately slowing devices to force suckers to discard perfectly usable tech. This idiot even accepts the tactic as their way to get filthy rich, before (rhetorically!) asking what choice does he have except to buy a new iPad? Plenty of better alternatives.

My iPad is the greatest iPad ever created. Great for watching my own rallies & admiring my crowds. LARGEST crowds in recorded history! Believe me, I know crowds!

Use it to stream media and as a TV. Also fine as a Kindle.

My grandkids are happily using an old iPad 2 loaded with games. IDK the year I got it, but returned an original model to Best Buy because the new one came out <30 days from that purchase. Slower, yes. But far from useless, they are nearly indestructible.

This is my iPad experience. I'm surprised I could click through and read the article via Twitter without having the article refresh repeatedly

I don't know what model I have, but a big 80 gb model, at least 10 years old, still ticking. Knock on wood, I need it today for a long trip.

The 4th generation is too bulky to be useful but it still works fine. I really love the mini- is it true that Apple plans to phase it out?
