Apple's challenge to the Amazon Echo and Google Home is here. Our reviewer says it's not yet ready to take them on.http://nyti.ms/2EQt1bi

Because it’s not Apples challenge to Echo or Home. It is a music device. Your whole premise is wrong.

It will become that at some point, currently it’s being positioned as a music device.

We don’t know that. But even if you’re right, this “review” is a totally disingenuous straw man.

Agreed. I just purchased my third Echo a couple days ago. We use them multiple times a day for all sorts of things, all kinds of applications and haven’t found any match in the market.

The price difference too... hard to beat echo’s relative affordability

A disappointing review, when Apple have made it clear that the HomePod is primarily a high quality speaker, and not a voice assistant. A more relevant competitor is the Sonos Play 1.

Uhm, strawman alert. The HomePod is not a voice assistant like the Echo, it’s a smart music speaker, with a voice UI. Emphasis on music.

Its just a music device, that too works with only apple music. Way to go to beat Echo or Google home with respect to smartness. A Bose Bluetooth speaker can do much more than this in terms of usability.

Reviewer fails 2realize that Apple is targeting people who appreciate very high sound quality. No reasonable person would compare a home pod to Echo. Echo is an assistant that happens to play music if u pay4 prime Listen to an echo then listen to a home pod You’ll never go back

It has great sounds quality, but that’s not enough and that is disappointing. It should be able to schedule appointments and especially remember music preferences. Those are no brainers #AppleFail
