As a UX designer, I'm in total odds with assessments like this one coming from so-called experts and even the Zuck. Usability hinges on expediency. Reading speed is developed. It will always beat a/v, ultimately. This cannot justify laying off editors or underpaying writers.

Just by chance I watched "Idiocracy" again yesterday. With every passing year it has become less of a movie and more of a documentary.

This is a ridiculous premise. More people are reading and writing more often than ever. Sure, other media are becoming popular, but text will never be displaced.

Video is definitely put off. Unless recommended I would not watch any of them. Main reason being the overload of videos around us. Plain text is any day better.

Pictures and words are two different things, I don’t think they contradicts with each other. There’s a beauty in texts, that’s why Shakespeare’s work never gets old
