I like the law, Poland was alsova slave in the making, Polish authorities committed crimes unwillingly, look at Schindler (not sure if he was Polish) but people committed sins under orders so its harsh to blame Poland as a whole

Poland has its own history of antisemitism, therefore no, it was not all orders... Most famous example is Jedwabne where polish villagers burned their fellow jewish villagers. For a start https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jedwabne_pogrom … The law attempts to rewrite history.
-
Oook! thanks Morgen, so this whole think is to fool our children who dont have a hint about the Nazi thing, re-writting history is driven by selfish intentions, how sad! Thanks for the link as well, I will open it and learn more
-
You're welcome, Andrew. It's so easy to sort everything in black and white but history consists of so many shades of grey... better look twice :)
-
I agree entirely, am on the page you gave me, the revelations are alarming, am alien to many of these atrocities am reading
-
I guess the whole idea of the new law was to prevent and punish the use of notorious'polish death camps'phrase. Although used almost exclusively as a location indicator, it could imply the death camps were established by poles or polish state(nonexistent after 1939). best regards
-
I'm not sure that possible implications of a certain phrase is solid ground for legislation. Freedom of speech should be prior to any form of national reputation. While the implication is historically wrong: why not explain than forbid?
-
Don't ask me, I'm not too fond of this new law too :) but that's how i understand the intents of the lawmakers, even if the law is poorly prepared.

So nothing prevents a person from holding the Polish ppl responsible for their own egregious behavior which arose either directly from or with the Nazis. See, the problem with legislating thought is that it’s impossible to do. Only a despot thinks he can.

So people can be sentenced to three years in prison for pointing out that the 300 Jewish men, women and children burned alive in the 1941 Jedwabne pogrom were murdered by their fellow Poles? That should settle the issue of Polish complicity in Nazi atrocities once and for all....

My uncle dug himself out of the earth in Polands Stalag, this revisionism of right-wing snowflakes who cannot deal with historical facts is getting really fucking old
-
I'm sorry to hear that, but btwe Stalag is "Stammlager für kriegsgefangene Mannschaften und Unteroffiziere" and it is a German word, they were camps of German army. Are you sure, that Poles burried him, and that you're blaming right people? Because that's what this law is about.
-
You made an account on Twitter to do some random defense of Polish Nazis? Seems a little suspect
-
no:)I created it to monitor SpaceX, while searching for sth else to subscribe to I've also found NYT, While reading some comments I've noticed yours and tried to clarify I'm not defending Natzis at all, not my type of social movement BTW I'm not a fan of current goverment also.

Is this a slow & sustained way of attacking the Holocaust, trying to erase the history of it, bit by bit? With the rise of Nazism it sure feels like it. Something that should be recognized & guarded against. The Holocaust history will always speak for itself.

Nah man, you don't get to do that. Plenty of Polish are responsible as any Germans for the crimes committed in your country. Some of the worst war crimes of the war were committed in Poland. Modern Nazis don't get to ignore the past you allowed this to happen

Exactly. What’s frightening is there are actually people commenting here that this law is a good thing. Sadly
#Nazi ideology is alive and well in 2018.#HolocaustMemorialDay#Holocaust#NeverForget#poland -
It's because especially here in this country we do such a poor job of teaching history. The internet has also allowed the rapid spread of such conspiracy theories like the holocaust didn't actual happen.
