Quite right. Weddings are only as expensive as you want them to be. We had our reception in the bar across the motorway from the church.

That's what we did. It was our gift to our friends that they didn't have to do anything but show up.

Got married in 2010, had a small ceremony and zero wedding party. Not a single person complained about not being a part of the wedding. It’s a financial and time burden.

The article nailed it with the line and I found myself asking when did this go from being an honour to a hassle? Apparently around four or five years ago. That checks out.

Because no one can afford to do it anymore. Because we keep giving money to billionaires instead of what used to be the middle class.

Wife & I had our dogs as a wedding party instead. Even pretended to have the ring stashed with my "best man". Yes. This is absolutely ridiculous. No, I don't refer to my dogs as "furbabies". Let's not go crazy. 🤣

FINALLY! I lost my best friend of many years over her wedding when she turned into a psycho bridezilla who seemed to think we all had bottomless reserves of cash. Proud to say I was ousted as Maid of Honor vs. caving to crazy.

Bridal parties are lame. Nobody wants to spend endlessly on someone else’s wedding. Considerate people don’t have them.
