The NHS is not free. It’s paid for by tax. At best it is amazing (my son has had two life saving open heart surgeries). But the model struggles with 1. Expanding population 2. Elderly care. 3. Fragmented society which can’t help post hospital rehab of relatives....

The American model struggles with that too, putting even more resources in for far worse results. The issues are logistical and social, and not with the core NHS model.

Not “free”! Paid for collectively by a civil society in love with itself. Love is never free nor is expensive medical treatment. But caring for ourselves together is worth it.

Well, as an expat Brit, to be fair it's NOT free it is paid for by National Insurance (payroll deduction) along with similar matching from employer. However, give me that any day of the week compared to having to sell my house or worse when I need treatment.

The US medical system is a total disaster. The doctors know nothing. They care only about rushing through appointments. But charge huge fees. Basically pill pushers for big pharma. The old saying holds true. "Don't get sick in America"

"REVERT"?"FREE"? Come here. Talk to doctors & healthcare professionals. Or AT LEAST DO YOUR BLOODY RESEARCH! This article is either utter ignorance or wilful misrepresentation. Either way, incredibly shoddy work of "journalism". We all pay through National Insurance Contributions

Free should mean no additional cost per treatment than the insurance fees themselves. This was the intent of Obamacare, no? In the US, going to the hospital can mean life long payments that will break you financially.

So what if they do? I don’t want someone to die just cause they have no papers. And I don’t want fellow citizens not getting health care just because some illegal immigrants might get it too.

the UK actually spends less on healthcare than the US does and everyone is covered. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_total_health_expenditure_per_capita … And I don’t think you know what Zionist means.

Healthcare is a right. I’m never gonna budge on that one. It is a right. It is considered a right in every other developed country and it’s unbelievable to me that Americans do not have that as a core value.

Doctors and nurses still get paid and choose to do it as a career? It’s no different than being a teacher or a fireman or policeman. Though it does pay a whole lot better, even in a universal health care system.
