President Trump's critics have said his decision to tether his success or failure to the stock market was ludicrous. Yes, it was a mistake, but not for the reason you might think, @andrewrsorkin writes.http://nyti.ms/2s7V838

On the bright side, at least we have an intellectually-compromised, morally-bankrupt sociopath with scant understanding of basic economic concepts and a gleeful contempt for critical thought at the helm.

The media said Obama was responsible for stock gains during his terms? Find me one example of that too. Key word: responsible.

That's the point - economic collapse will crack his base. Sure he'll keep the ones who'll blame "the Jews", but that's only 3/4 of his 32%.

GOP and republican voters will not crack. This is the last desperate gasp at a dying party. Their only way to stay in power is to subvert the law and cheat. If you're expecting them to "come to their senses" it won't happen.

A few will - at least they'll stop voting. He's fallen from 46% of the vote to 32-38% support now... I'm not saying he'll lose many, but enough to help in November.
