Last week I went to hospital for a scan of my ovaries (everything's fine). I arrived really early because my appointment was in the early evening and I didn't want to end up stuck in rush hour traffic and be late. I'd sat down for about 5 minutes when I was called through

My appointment was not at all rushed, the woman doing the scan was really kind and talked me through everything she was doing. I was done within half an hour. I've had some terrible experiences with the NHS as well, but thats far from unique to the NHS.

The NHS, for all its flaws (primarily due to underfunding and the anomaly of social care being funded by local authorities not the NHS budget), it an amazing service. We take it for granted in the UK, but not having to worry about money when you're unwell? A bloody miracle

It has it's problems but we really do try to give the best care we can. Unfortunately sometimes it feels like we are trying to give a 5 star service on a 2 star budget but that's down to chronic and deliberate underfunding

I'd also like to point out that if you're critically ill they will do everything they can at an excellent standard and it's still free. Ventilators, kidney machines medication and round the clock one to one care. Everything. I know that for certain as it's my job.

When I found a lump in my breast 4 years ago I was seen by a specialist within 3 weeks (had I been older or had a family history of cancer it would have been quicker), had a scan and biopsy that day, cancer ruled out

how is this article useful or informative? it's a bunch of short opinions with no background. we have no idea if these opinions are representative, or why the nhs has flaws, or what they are. (what is the purpose of this piece? clickbait? to cast doubt on universal healthcare?)

Just like with any other medical system - in any place in the world - there are happy folks and unhappy. Hmm. Just like, well, pretty much anything in life at all? How about a piece that uses various countries' patient *outcomes* - in comparison to the US - for measurement?

The NHS is by no means perfect, (I've had bad experiences) it's impossible for so many reasons... Human error, finances, staffing, equipment and funding, however I've lived in and visited a number of countries (Europe & Asia) and the NHS stands as an example to the world. #NHS
