The far-right Alternative for Germany could soon be the country's main opposition party. Its next aim: to win over the working-class and create a nationalist labor movement.http://nyti.ms/2EKmU8M

This kind of reporting really distorts the picture. Yes, AfD entered parliament and has peeled voters away from both main parties, BUT like 72% of Germans voted for the center (Black, Red, Green, Yellow). 9% for the far left, 13% for the far right. Hardly a country on the edge.pic.twitter.com/ipQoKDjSfO

Exactly. And when I read "Bottrop and surrounding cities are in decline" two thing cross my mind: 1) The Ruhr area is on the rise again: economy, population, fiscal income, everything. 2) To Americans this might sound like we're West Virginia or Detroit. We're not, by a long run.

Thank you for that insight. I live in Berlin and I'm not really familiar with that region. Cheers!

Cool! You should drop by, it's quite an inspirational region: Lot's of post-industrial punk, many green parks and a vibrant cultural scene with cinemas, theaters & opera houses. Population of NYC, but 4 times the area. You're in Cologne in 1h, in Amsterdam in 2h, Hamburg in 3h.

On the AfD being the first right-wing party to enter our parliament since #WW2; it's not: Post-war German parliament seated several of them until the 1960s: DP, WAV, GB/BHE and one might argue the FDP, look at their program and iconography back then: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freie_Demokratische_Partei#1949%E2%80%931969:_Wiederaufbau_Deutschlands …

About time the Germans grew a backbone to stand up against the Nazi Merkel &Tyranny of the EU. It's a growing trend across the world & EU that we again bring back sovereignty over globalist suicide agenda. 👏👏👏

If Merkel was a Nazi, then she probably would be with the Nazis that are currently opposing her.

Merkel needs to wake up as the unmitigated decision she made on her own to take in so many in unchecked immigration has been a terrible idea as she has given Far Right groups fuel for their voice of exclusion of others.
