Odd, I didn’t want to have children because I was afraid they’d be brought up by Michael Eisner and Steve Jobs.

I don't blame them. I don't think of mad max but I think of struggle, of disaster and of suffering. I worry what the future holds for my children and fear for those possibilities. I blame prior generations and our own for not even trying.

The planet is already over populated, so this is a good thing regardless of the reason behind it.

I think parents in every generation have wrestled with questions about the wisdom of bringing children into the world. These questions seem less easy to answer now.

True. I don't think our ancestors thought about this so deeply though. Who wanted to have kids knowing they'd go thru the Holocaust or WW2? I think we have kids hoping they work to fix bad things in the world.

That’s a good point - we emphasize how to make a difference, and why it’s important. I love that kids are socialized now to share their time and talents to support causes they believe in. There is hope!

Not sure what you are trying to intimate here as greening has limitations including availability of additional water needed as vegetation greens (my area, for instance, is entering another drought) and acclimation. Your point is??

“The lead author, Prof Ranga Myneni from Boston University, told BBC News the extra tree growth would not compensate for global warming, rising sea levels, melting glaciers, ocean acidification, the loss of Arctic sea ice, and the prediction of more severe tropical storms.”

Maybe the only good thing to come of this will be more people adopting children from foster care before they spend their entire lives in the system.
