This is Elliott Kline, also known as Eli Mosley. He was an anonymous Twitter troll — now he’s speaking as an alt-right leader. We uncovered a lie that propelled his rise: http://nyti.ms/2E4KHiz pic.twitter.com/AMkpExWDMm

How an Alt-Right Leader Used a Lie to Climb the Ranks
Elliott Kline, also known as Eli Mosley, is a rising white supremacist leader. But our investigation found that his personal narrative — like much of these groups’ messaging — is built on deception.

The irony of doing an extended piece like this on the alt-right, when at the same time you understand that everything they do is to get a rise out of the media. This should’ve been 2 minutes long - covering the guy’s lie about being in the army.

For the love of god, how many times do we have to remind the NYT that it’s Nazi/white supremacist, not “alt-right”?

So, I just watched this piece. Very well done, and just reveals this guy as a lying jackass. Seems as though lying is common place for the right. He was a nobody before, he was a nobody during, and he is a nobody after.

Do you know a white male in politics or power who HAS NOT lied his way to the top? I don't.

Excellent piece. The video made a good point that this movement isn't as powerful as social media makes them appear. I think it's time to stop giving them ink every time they have a poorly attended event.

You do yourselves a disservice describing this guy as "alt-right" there is no "alt-right" it is racist, white supremacist(s), Nazi. Take you pick. But "alt-right" give us break. Listen to you own documentary. It can't be any clearer.

Now be as honest as you possibly can for me.. Did you watch the documentary? Or saw the words 'alt' and 'right' combined and went on a instinctual tirade?

That's sort of irrelevant to my point really. I was just wondering if his reaction was even based on anything he actually found out for himself or just a knee-jerk reaction to a few buzzwords.

I don't even necessarily agree with that but again, you're missing my point. Just because the New York Times equates someone as being 'alt right' doesn't mean they even necessarily are.

In this specific case he does admit to being alt right but still, my point stands. I don't think anyone should ever read the headline of a news piece and form any kind of consensus from it.
