"The only element that links the persons who were injured is the color of their skin," Italy's interior minister said, calling the shootings an "evident display of racial hatred"http://nyti.ms/2FMZyyz

It came hot on the heels of the killing of a young Italian woman who was chopped into pieces. A migrant from Nigeria who was also a drug dealer was arrested for the murder. There are huge problems with crime from the migrant influx.

Yes the article mentions that. But there is no need to randomly try to kill or harm black people in retaliation. Also women in Italy are victims mostly of their own husbands/partners #femicide. Please don't buy into Salvini's hate speech, I am sure you're better than that.

I also agree that retaliation like this is not the way to go and is no excuse. But at some point the government needs to listen and solve the root problem.

The problem is that we are confusing a sort of “private justice” with fascism, Traini took the occasion of that horrible murder for his political purpose. All his actions are not symbols of private justice but of fascism: he is a fascist terrorist

And in no way should that be supported. But people do crazy things when they are very angry and the level of anger is rising steadily. Sadly extremists are produced as a result

The majority of people is angry because they feel themselves unprotected but, in the same time, in Italy there is a part of population ready to exchange their freedom with a train on time “because with Mussolini trains were always on time”

What?? That is simply insane. But infrastructure and organisation in Italy has long been very weak indeed.

You are completely right! We are not a perfect country, there is a lot of work to do but we must stop thinking that everything depend on politicians because in a lot of aspects common people can change things

This is not simply “Racial Hatred”, it is fascism: the rebirth of fascism

There was a huge hate speech campaign after the murder. So maybe we are skipping a step here. Murder>(hate speech)>rampage. The eye should be kept on that, i.e. the racial hatred that some Italian politicians are spreading pre-elections.

People shot at had no link to that. Some here in Italy are trying to justify a vile, terrible and inhuman act of terror. It is a fascist recrudence we are facing here. Do not dismiss it. it is scary.

Well the guy who did the rampage was wrapped up in the Italian flag and did the fascist salute when apprehended so I think he wants to be called that way. Why are you so afraid of the word? If we don't use it, we just normalize fascist gestures.

No mention of an Italian woman being attacked by a migrant. Careful, NYT. You might get scooped. Oh, wait...the Indy Star already did while you were Trump bashing.

Of course, not the Nigerian that raped and quartered an Italian woman. That shouldnt be brought up at all. Only go after the people striking back when their own govt bends over to appease the rapists.
