Unless one controls for the n-6 content in the diet which completes for binding sites, n-3 has no where to bind. n-6 from grains and industrial seed oils is astronomically high in most diets. Eliminate those THEN study the effects of omega 3. It can't work if it can't bind.

        1) It’s the dose that matters and less than 2 grams of Omega 3 EPA/DHA is not going to matter much. You need more EPA/DHA.2) If O-3 Fish Oil is worthless, why is their synthetic FO equivalents ie. Lovaza approved as Rx Drugs to reduce elevated Triglycerides, a known CVD marker?

The single 'magic bullet' approach is an invention of the drug industry and doesn't apply to nutrients. Foods contain multiple nutrients, which work together synergistically in the body. Expecting a single nutrient to behave like a drug is absurd.

The studies surveyed considered those people already suffering from some form of heart disease or already at high risk of heart disease. The survey cannot reach conclusions on the prophylactic effect of Omega 3 on lower risk populations. Best advice for everyone: cut out sugar.

It seems that a lot of medical opinion is coalescing around chronic inflammation as the culprit for heart disease and so much else. These fatty acids don’t appear to have any anti-inflammatory properties. Pretty persuasive article, given the #s involved.

ONLY Omega-3 supplements do not protect against heart-disease. The intake of other fats must be lowered at the same time. And Omega-3 protects against brain-degeneration (adults) and brain development (foetus and baby) . That's the whole story!
