How is it that this child gets 40 years and a 34 year old rapist of a 13 year old in Oklahoma only gets 15 years probation?!

What's the point of a 40 year sentence? It can't be for correctional purposes

Then it's a prison, not a hospital. Hospitals make people better then send them home.

It wasn't 40 years in a hospital. The sentence is for a minimum six months in hospital, and 40 years of mental health care supervision. She is allowed to petition for release every six months

This story makes me so sad for all involved. Schizophrenia is a devastating disease. I feel so bad for this poor kid. I hope better treatment is found soon.

That place will be hell on earth, and after 40 years there, I can assure you they’ll elect to just keep her for life. Anyone thinking this means she’s getting off easy is mistaken. I’d rather go to the penitentiary any day.

If the girl is that easily influenced by stories and fantasia, enough to stab a friend 19 times, she's going to the right place for the next 40 years.
