Sadly, outsourcing sucks. Big companies in UK specializing in outsourcing are failing. Why? Focus on numbers and box ticking; no focus on customer nor end user.

This is what happens when you privatize public services. We all pay to be mistreated and people suffer.

When these things happen the punishment needs to be swift and severe. I imagine just like here crimes against children and the elderly have stiffer penalties. It's a damn shame anyone would feel it's ok to neglect the elderly.

Nobody believes you . It took me 2 years to figure out the system. I got all but 1 nurse working on my husband fired because I created the paper trail from hell. The state found people they had killed.

I used to take my dogs to visit at the retirement home up the road until they got a new director. Then she wouldn't allow me to bring my lapdogs anymore. I know it's not really related but I'm still mad at the lady. I felt she just didn't care it made them happy.

Legally you can only visit if you are family unless a family member insists on it

That's not a law here as far as I'm aware. I've been volunteering on and off some junior high school at these places. Just to visit, read books or newspapers or mail and generally just hang out. Maybe the laws are different here.

Excellent article! That will be America soon! The quality of care at most nursing homes isn't that great. Overworked caregivers lie on state forms.

This is nothing new.... how many times have we heard about incidents of neglect in the aged care system? How many actually cared enough to do something? There is no consistent legal monitoring unit for these facilities.
