Officials in Cape Town caution that the Day Zero threat will surpass anything a major city has faced since World War II or the Sept. 11 attacks. The reason? The city's water supply is dangerously close to running dry.http://nyti.ms/2EozN89

Israel is a country with the technology Cape Town could use to solve this crisis.

Really Cape Town? Worse than Haiti, Hurricane Katrina, the 2004 Tsunami, Syria etc etc etc. This is due to poor planning. You knew it was coming and didn't do anything until it was too late. #Watercrisis

While this crisis is primarily caused by a prolonged drought, failure to plan ahead adequately is also a factor. As the effects of climate change become more present, we will likely see more scenarios like this. World be warned! Climate change is real!

Cape Town like most of Africa suffers from colonialism and nations robbing their natural resources.

Apparently colonial nations have been stealing our water. News to me, but I guess it must be true 🤷‍♂️

No the reason is because we knew the water ran dry but corrupt national government misappropriated the funds to used to prevent it and declared the water a non-priority issue. People in cape town have no water because of corruption.

I was just there in May 2017. It was dire then. Educating the public about how best to conserve as well as having some sort of monitoring system in place could help but won’t eliminate the issue. We need better ways.

That is scary. I can see something like that happening here in California because of this drought.
