You may think that after people grow up they should just automatically "get over" the trauma of childhood, but sometimes that's more difficult than anyone imagines! I can't LIKE this post enough. Until we START at the BEGINNING, we won't ever fix our numerous societal dilemmas.

Read: because they were not sufficiently "healed" or "loved despite being broken" in some way, it is far more difficult from these individuals to love themselves. Hence they live through other people's lives, albeit with imperfect results.

An interesting, related subject is the nexus between unhealed childhood trauma and codependent behavior as an adult, e.g., because the underlying childhood trauma was never fully addressed, the adult becomes over-involved and/or over-critical of other people's lives.
