Two women talking about something other than a man? Hollywood often fails the Bechdel test. Here are some movies on Amazon Prime that may even surpass it.http://nyti.ms/2FmKffL

For Chrissakes, the Bechdel Test was a one-note joke from the comic strip and should NOT be the grading scale for movie female characters. It offers no insight into how good the writing is or the quality of acting. STOP USING IT

It's not a grade of quality; everyone I've ever seen refer to it understands that it's a marker for whether or not a movie even accomplishes the bare minimum.

But it’s a bare minimum so superfluous that makes the entire test redundant. Movies like “Dunkirk” and “Moonlight” fail the test, yet “Cars 3” and “xXx2” pass? Why would anyone need to know that?

Yeah how dare people desire to seek out movies with female characters that interact with female characters. How dare they. What nonsense.

Yeah, because when I think of progressive feminism, my first thought goes to a Vin Diesel action flick where the women are treated like set design. Again, passed the test...

Again, bare minimum. i.e. a starting block, and again, not a grade of quality. Most of all, certainly not something to get so upset over.

I should probably clarify, I'm not THAT upset, the tone of my original reply may have come across a little too brash. It's really more of an eye roll, more or less. Have you heard of the "Mako Mori test"?

I feel ya. And I have! I think it's another great litmus test. Alone it still doesn't mean the movie is going to be high quality or overall progressive, but it's another marker. If a movie passes both the Bechdel and the Mako Mori, even better.

I think it’s important for little girls to grow up focusing on things other than boys (like their studies and devoloping their self worth). So I can see why this movie list would be of interest to parents of little girls or asexual women but maybe I’m in the minority. 🤷🏻‍♀️
