Hey... I follow over 1800 accounts, and I'm just followed by 227. That doesn't mean I'm a bot. I believe any Twitter user can potentially follow way more accounts than they have followers themselves. But you're also right, there's a lot of bot accounts out there.

I'm super-unpopular and low key, but follow loads of people. Is this wrong????

I feel very uncomfortable when someone belittles someone for having few followers. I go on Twitter to see what's happening, not to court popularity, but it seems I get judged for not being particularly active.

It's not our fault that we want to follow as many people as we can. Twitter is a great place to follow all you favorite celebrities and such.

I think of it more as reading a newspaper than writing for one. Perhaps being relatively passive is unusual, but we can't all be leaders. Someone must follow.

I think it is definitely the sum of a whole. I wouldn't consider the ratio as definitive if there weren't other clues.

TBH I don't waste much time on the thought process. If it's an obnoxious poster, I mute or block it, regardless of whether it's live or automated.

Bitch, what is "unusual" about finding more accounts on here worth following than people find yours? Your reasoning applies to every new account, every non internet sensation.
