Drawing on a stock of at least 3.5 million automated accounts, each sold many times over, a company named Devumi has provided clients with more than 200 million Twitter followers, a New York Times investigation found http://nyti.ms/2By9MQy pic.twitter.com/9ypaStXrAh

The fake accounts that most resemble real people reveal a kind of mass social identity theft. At least 55,000 of the accounts use the names, profile pictures, hometowns and other personal details of real Twitter users, including minors.http://nyti.ms/2By9MQy

What if @Twitter @facebook and @instagram got rid of showing people’s #followers altogether?

That would have devastating results for all parties involved. "Influencers" would stop making money, and social media empires would lose a good chunk of their advertising money. Who knows? It just might be the reset we need.

Twitter's stock price & ad buys profit from any parties who decide to misuse their platform. Twitter looks away & counts their money. They've already made history. Perhaps not the kind they wished to. Twitter's testimony before the Senate Intel committee showed their priorities.

We've got to get younger ppl into Washington. Most are average age of 70 yrs old and don't have a clue abt the internet. We need legislation to stop this.

Almost everything is going right in the US, largely because the checks and balances in the federal system make it so hard to pass legislation. It's a wonderful country and you should be proud of it.

Yes. Well, there is rarely one direction that is best for all. You need to compromise. When you forget that you end up with North Korea.

Instead of all I should have said majority. On this issue here ppl's identities are getting stolen, ppl are being trolled by professionals, etc. It's good for the businesses but not citizens. I always come down on the side of the ppl, and they're the majority.

That ratio translates to probably somewhere between $150k-$200k worth of fake followers, but he more than likely got a great discount which was paid out in rubles.
