Democracy stopped spreading 15 years ago, and now a few countries have turned back into dictatorships. Is the world still safe for democracy?http://nyti.ms/2ncC8e4

No, people are smarter and more connected than ever before, what happens are multinational corporations and greedy politicians are trying to salvage their ancient colonial business practices. The world needs a new social, economic and political solutions.

Define democracy? You mean like actual representative democracy where Proportional Representation gets a govt, or some ancient electoral college thingy where 3m votes mean nothing in the end?

You really going to whine about that. Bush won by pop against gore. Obama beat romeny and had 2 years where dems ran congress and presidency. Yall had the power to change anything. You didnt. So take a seat and enjoy the ride.

It's ok thanks, I live in a country with MMP & my local council votes with STV. I'm as proportional as can be. I like proper democracy & we don't tend to have a Nuclear pissing contest with deranged dictators.

Jefferson and founders afraid to put the word "democracy" in constitution because they knew would be a problem, instead created a federalist system.

That was more about avoiding a direct democracy phrasing

If the most powerful country and a relatively well-informed society elects #DonaldTrump as their president then those turning back to the #dictatorship must not be somehow wrong.

Gerrymandering, voter suppression, electoral college BS, fake TV channels, fake news, racism, sexism, islamophobia, lies are a few of the characteristics of America.

Democracy never works. That is why Republics were formed, and even those are hard to keep. Especially when most of it is comprised of far left traitors and seditionists.
