Other times, a country is heading toward democracy. But as soon as the government feels like it could lose control, it uses violence, oppression and coercion to keep power http://nyti.ms/2E7C1Ze pic.twitter.com/6uXQdqIaY8

And once in a while, democratically elected leaders dismantle their democracies from within http://nyti.ms/2Bqvy8X pic.twitter.com/pOigL0MyxQ

Could polarized voters lead to a breakdown of U.S. democracy?

Very good. :) Do you know Okinawa? If the weak are minorities? Everyone's happiness > minorities It's Sacrifice :(pic.twitter.com/kDqZcF8ehK

I lived there in the 70's, used to run thru the cane fields, chase butterflies and chew Felix the Cat gum... nowhttps://twitter.com/whtapl/status/910930211469852672 …

Democracy has been hijacked by the corporate sector n the west and in the Asia countries it is hijacked by the feudal and wealthy people as Politics & especially participating in Elections required Millions, in some cases billions

"First there was one democracy" superimposed of a picture of the United States? A "democracy" called "England"? Failing to understand the history and geography of the subject you're discussing is really starting off on the wrong foot.
-
Contrived charts, cheesy quantification, methods with no meaningful validity. Is the New York Times is turning into Vox? This is almost as embarrassing as your chart saying Hillary had overwhelming odds of defeating Trump on election day 2016.pic.twitter.com/2cuuufOzk7

Nice quarter analysis. Some nations have such bad people that they need dictatorship. They can't deal with democracy. Some nations have smarter people. They can have democracy. (with long teeth of course
....) -
That's silly. There's no evidence that any one group of people are inherently more entitled to Democratic governments than any other. Successful democracies have some prerequisites, but all people are capable of living in one, once you have those things.
-
I got your point. But for example, if
#Russia was a democracy as we think in west - there would be a chaos without a strong president like Mr.@PutinRF_Eng. I agree, that all nations can to become democracies. But in history - it has mostly always been the bloody way. OK? -
I disagree. The implication that people need a strong leader is overblown. People need autonomy and mutual acceptance of private natural rights and ownership, and from there collaboration will follow. Dictators always have to justify their existence, your baker does not
-
In China, they tried an army with all same rank. :) I'm for enlightenmented dictarorship before democracy. And after a nation moves into democracy - it needs an enlightenmented watch dog. the goal is democracy.
-
The problem is it's much harder to get dictators to give up power than it is for democracies to emerge organically. I'm for private persons working together, respecting each other's rights and property, as the catalyst.
-
You have it all right. World just is so bad place that we can't carry on with pure minded city councils. I hope you keep your will. That's the will we all people have in common. But not in nations yet. :)
