Breaking News: E-cigarette use may put teenagers at higher risk of smoking, a major report found. It also concluded vaping is safer than cigarettes.http://nyti.ms/2n7SsNs

The study stopped short of calling e-cigarettes safe. There are no long-term scientific studies of the devices’ addictive potential or their effects on the heart, lungs or on reproduction.http://nyti.ms/2n7SsNs

Sounds more like an Advertorial. And vaping's safety flies in the face of REAL research that was done, which is why E-cigarettes are now banned in many countries.

Do you really think the National Academy of Sciences would write an advertorial for the e-cigarette industry? The conclusion that they're safer is in agreement with other major reports from Public Health England and the Royal College of Physicians. What research do you mean?

The research from the FDA and other countries Health Departments that agreed e-cigarettes were more dangerous. Follow the money. When the FDA's research and conclusions are ignored in favor of a private company's PR, you have a major problem!

Do you have an example of such research? Why do you think this report from the Royal College of Physicians in the UK (for example) is wrong? Money too? Not sure how the vaping industry would be able to sway them (and the NAS) but not the tobacco industryhttps://www.rcplondon.ac.uk/projects/outputs/nicotine-without-smoke-tobacco-harm-reduction-0 …

It was an opinion piece on the INTRODUCTION of e-cigarettes. They were the first to condemn them when they found what was in them. They found the ones from America could be easily unscrewed and refilled with crack, "bath salts" etc.

I think I remember that. They found that 1/19 was contaminated (w/ something that hasn't been found since) and that they had lower levels of nitrosamines (a carcinogen) than cigarettes. Don't you think we should pay attention to the evidence published since then as well?

It wouldn't be banned in many countries if that were the case. You present a 5 year old opinion report written when e-cigarettes just hit the market and call it "research" when NO ONE knew what was in them. Pull the other leg.

Did you click the link I sent? It was published in 2016. You really should check it out. And look at what the National Academy of Sciences has just said too. I'm not pulling anyone's leg - I'm just trying to tell you what scientists are saying.

The report actually concludes "use of e-cigarettes will generate a net public health benefit". Why does NYT generate a misleading & alarmist clickbait headline instead of reporting this major realignment of US scientific establishment to the international consensus on #vaping?pic.twitter.com/JiB79ed6Sa

and so on. And even if smoking just nicotine is better than smoking tobacco,no addiction at all is still the best and the overall goal over time.

I haven't seen anyone promoting vaping for people that aren't smokers and especially for those smokers that are having a hard time giving up smoking with other methods. As for "addiction", I'm dependent on caffeine (coffee) and I have no goal of giving it up.

Nonsense!!! The benefits of e-cigs over traditional cigarettes greatly outweigh the laughable comment that they are "Likely Encourage Kids to try tobacco" That's like saying Facebook posts are "Likely Encourage Kids to eat Tide Pods" (Which unfortunately I think they are)
