@nytimes The story you should be covering is how achieving this objective requires waiving physical security rules and thus risks the life of every person who will work there. As soon as we have a sane President, the embassy will be relocated again. Lives will depend on it.

What physical security rules? HOW could it be ANY less safe for U.S. citizens than where it is now? OH YEAH OBAMAS IRAN DEAL

Ignoring your political ranting, there are strict rules about setbacks and other physical aspects of embassy locations that make them difficult to attack. That is what’s wrong with original site and why we haven’t built on it. There are few sites in Jerusalem proper that meet 1/2

2/2 our Req’s and thus they’re very expensive. The existing consulate is not req’d to meet enpmbassy level standards. So, the only solution is to fund construction to meet safety standards or waive standards (dangerous precedent).

Oh, and it’s safer where it is right now as it was constructed to embassy standards.

And you know the embassy when moved will not meet safety standards? AND it will be built in an unsafe place? I'm not political ranting.. Obama Iran treaty has made it unsafe ANYWHERE in Jerusalem WHEN not if but WHEN they are nuclear for ALL humans in the area. IRAN has already

Again, this isn't political so stop. It isn't relevant. We could be talking about Canada. There are important security standards for physical safety from ground level assaults for embassies.. The current consulate does not meet them. End of story.

Let’s hope the current administration is all in orange jumpsuits by then, and sanity comes back in vogue.

The move does not have to happen. The Ambassador is responsible for the safety of staff, families and the local citizens-to not bring danger by reckless actions - which moving to Jerusalem would certainly do. Acting ‘under orders’ is not an excuse.
