misguide people for a cool title story,, not cool...I'll remind you of this when you have to adopt bitcoin

"...the network supporting Ethereum, the second-most valuable virtual currency, gobbles up another country’s worth of electricity each day." There is nothing misguided about the title of the story. Now if it offends your precious view on crypto, that's a personal problem.

Gold is a natural resource which is used in all types of industries (medicine, electronics, heavy machinery etc). Gold isn't just a speculative asset. Buddy if you were the one doing "good research" you would be the one writing for the New York Times.

The electricity consumption for #proofofwork networks is out of control, and was certainly not expected by the inventors. Hence @VitalikButerin second thoughts on this. And with an average cost of $20-40 per transaction, #bitcoin has also failed in providing payment fluidity..

It might be hugely wasteful but at least it makes no sense and has no legitimate function

So we will have a virtual currency, live in a virtual world, have virtual loving affairs and slowly destroy our planet. A real disaster

Bitcoin will eventually catch a bad break if it doesn't address issues like this needless waste of energy, and the scalability issue that continues to plague it's transactions. It's becoming like a mafia run currency instead of the people's money it was supposed to be.

The electric rate for miners should quadruple or more. The fuckers are GREEDY with imaginary "currency". Plus...cutting their power is their Achilles heel.

Late to the game, I looked deeply into it last year. Aside from all the speculation, blather, etc, the REAL reason I passed? THIS ONE.
