As a brother of a 25+ year addict who has OD'd 4 times since Christmas, it's not that easy. It's a genetic illness.

yeah and I call that bullshit, it's not genetic to start doing drugs, being addicted might come more easy but the choice is the persons only

Sad situation. Drug and alcohol abuse and addiction are a HUGE drain on hospital/medical resources. At what point have they used up their allotment? At what point do they take responsibility?

People have their own way of achieving happiness, as grown adults they have the right to decide what is bad or not for their own body.

The government should stop focusing in people's right of decision, and start using their time better to actually help people.

and if you're always there instead of letting them hit rock bottom, they're never going to stop because they have no reason to stop. If you leave them comfortable in their addiction there is no reason for them to get sober.
