The increase in earthquakes is more due to the melting of the ice and rising seawater. The increasing weight of the sea puts more pressure on the tectonic plates under the sea.

Low pressure storms such as hurricanes and typhoons are associated with earthquakes. While not the cause, if an earthquake is near to triggering, it may be enough to instigate it. These storms often have surge tides, greater if moon is full. But low pressure not moon is cause.

This is information you could tell me a few years from now. Or never. When did the NY Times turn to clickbait? "this one strange belief is still held by millions"

The moons position may intensify tectonic plates already "slipping or sliding", just with its position, not including its tidal affect.

Full moons create a greater tides, more water, more pressure on plates. Also, remember it is the Sun that gave us the winds and waves..

Mostly, its whats going on inside the earth that creates most of the earth quakes. other planets in "Our Solar System", (#ChangeTheName!) also affect the earths tectonic movements.

Absolutely, the moon affects earthquakes in many ways, one tides, high tide or low tides can trigger EQ activity.
