The opioid scourge has overwhelmed police and fire departments, hospitals, courts and jails. Most of all, it has upended families.http://nyti.ms/2mWKy9w

The crack epidemic was left untreated. You called those neighborhoods ghettos until It reached the suburbs.

African Americans were blamed for crack epidemic, now Mexicans are blamed for opioid crisis, but the major cause is fentanyl; most fentanyl is manufactured in China, sold online to N America, delivered via @USPS and courier services. Canada has a strategy:https://www.straight.com/news/1020446/vancouver-city-council-told-fentanyl-meant-2017-saw-record-number-drug-overdose-deaths …

Maybe if certain leaders in congress focused on our opiod epidemic instead of marijuana for gawds sake, we can make progress. Ignoring it seems like some type of warfare. #OpioidEpidemic

You need to focus on preventing addiction--most ods involve multiple drugs, 90% addiction starts in teen years, starts with alcohol and mj Once addicted it is much harder, $$$$ to stophttp://healthland.time.com/2011/06/29/teens-and-drugs-rite-of-passage-or-recipe-for-addiction/ …

I see your view. However , I think a good first move is to cut the snake off at the head and stop these many docs that are pretty much drug dealers now. More restrictions and tough consequences.

Humm kinda sounds familiar like the crack epidemic in the 80's and 90's when the government didn't give a flying fuck about broken families and went into overdrive locking addicts up. Can't put my finger on what's different this time. Anyone have any ideas on what's different?🤔

Prohibition fails to dictate what goods people should enjoy in their life. Prohibition inspires criminal behaviour in people, and destroys lives. Prohibition is the failed psychology of an authority whose intelligence is on the level of an old newspaper with snotstains. #activism

And yet the crack epidemic overwhelmed no one. Police simply beat and threw those people in jail; end of story. Why the sudden need for hospitals, care, police being given Narcan to save lives? Because it is affecting white communities overwhelmingly.
