All philosophers I've known haven't found jobs in their field, so they work elsewhere, mainly in computer programming, web design, healthcare. Is that a good investment?

That's assuming that you are doing it purely to get a job and not for the sake of scholarship itself. I think hardly anyone goes into a philosophy degree with the aim of being a career philosopher.

If you give $75mil and there's no one around to spend it does it make a difference?🤔

What a waste. All that money to a program to produce unemployable philosophers. Sort of like Richard Branson being scammed by the climate change charlatans.

A generous donation to a discipline much misunderstood. The study of philosophy is about ethics & humanity. We need to support thinkers.

I don't think I need any more compelling proof than this that philosophy on its own is the dumbest thing that people have continued to do for thousands of years.

I think philosophy is terrible, and I think Bill Miller is terrible, and the fact that Miller is now one of the largest individual funders of a philosophy department kind of rolls everything up into a neat little package.
