What does the false missile alert in Hawaii tell us about these government-run warning systems? That they need major work.http://nyti.ms/2DvWpDg

People make mistakes. They need more training and redundant safeguards so this type of error is eliminated.

        But there should be safeguards.

Gee, NYT, maybe you ought to find out a little more about the guy who hit the wrong button twice. Is he a Pepe Boy? A Russian? A Trump-do-or-die kind of guy?

Worrisome that the mainland - and the media - only heard of the alert AFTER the fact. Really? Like a missile threat to Hawaii isn’t a missile threat to the mainland?

Or just maybe,.. they are phony panic staging events, designed to take attention away from Trump's Mueller woes and make DJT look -in-charge?? #ShitholePresident

How about just adding a "Are You Sure" prompt to anyone issuing the alerts?

I'm no expert but from what I observed I question the Alert that was placed on TV. A basketball game continued to be shown while the Alert flashed on the bottom of the screen. Due to the seriousness (missile on the way), the alert should have been the only thing shown.
